Book launch and signing
Dr. Pearnel Bell (left), Regional Clinical Psychologist for the North East Regional Health Authority, and Dr. Claudette Crawford-Brown display the books The Adventures of Dooney the Donkey with Curious Jay and My First Book of Relaxation Techniques for Children during a launch and signing ceremony at Jackie’s Treasure in Montego Bay, last Friday.
The books, authored by Dr. Bell, explore themes such as understanding conflict, embracing differences, coping with grief and loss, body awareness, speaking the truth, and problem-solving. Designed for children ages six to twelve, the stories follow a curious young girl named Curious Jay, who learns important life lessons through the adventures of Dooney the Donkey.
“Her parents guide her curiosity by sharing the story of Dooney the Donkey, who embarks on various adventures that help her understand emotions, differences, grief, loss, and conflict management,” Dr. Bell told the Observer West.
“The books are beautifully illustrated by Trudy-Ann Johnson, a Jamaican artist, capturing the essence of each theme in a concise and engaging manner.”
My goal is to empower children, parents, and educators with tools for emotional growth and resilience.
